A Seaway Group Company

Art direction, Services header: a technician at work on deck equipment — davit release gear or a fire main — hands and tools in frame, taken from the side rather than over the shoulder. Flat exposure, nothing above 60% luminance, no lens flare. NO LEGIBLE VESSEL NAME, IMO NUMBER OR CLIENT BRANDING: this is a marketing page and a readable hull identifies a customer we have not asked.

Services

Eight disciplines, one attendance. A vessel calling anywhere in the port index can have fire-fighting, life-saving, bridge, radio, calibration, electrical, survey support and lifting gear covered by one supplier on one visit, against one scope and one invoice — with the parts and consumables the work consumes supplied alongside it. No single discipline here is unusual. What is unusual is not having to coordinate four to six vendors against a port stay that may be twelve hours.

01

Fire Fighting Appliances (FFA)

Extinguishers, fixed CO₂, foam, water-mist, SCBA, gas detection, dampers and the fire control plan.

Quote this service

PORTRAIT 2:3. A CO₂ cylinder bank in the fire-fighting room, the bank filling the middle band and its distribution pipework running up out of frame. Quiet bulkhead or deckhead above. Life-Saving Appliances (LSA)

Lifeboats, davits and on-load release gear; liferafts, HRUs, immersion suits, EPIRB and SART.

Quote this service

PORTRAIT 2:3. Shot from the embarkation deck looking up: a lifeboat turned out on its davits, falls under tension. Open sky or hull plate across the top band. The boat and the on-load release gear together in the middle band — release gear is the subject, not scenery. Lower band: the davit arms down to their deck foundations. No certificate or approval plate legible.

What that covers
  • Lifeboats, rescue boats and fast rescue boats — annual thorough examination and operational test
  • Davits and launching appliances — 5-yearly dynamic load test at 1.1 × maximum working load
  • On-load release gear — annual operational test and 5-yearly overhaul
  • Inflatable liferafts serviced at an approved station; hydrostatic release units replaced
  • Immersion suits and TPAs, EPIRB and SART annual testing, lifebuoys and pyrotechnic renewal
Governing instruments
  • SOLAS III
  • LSA Code
  • IMO Res. MSC.402(96) — lifeboats, rescue boats, launching appliances, release gear

Bridge & Navigation

ECDIS, radar/ARPA, VDR annual performance test, AIS, BNWAS, gyro and magnetic compass adjustment.

Quote this service

PORTRAIT 2:3. A bridge console at night, shot square-on. Dark deckhead and window frame across the top. Radar and ECDIS screens filling the middle band, lit and showing a real display, not a demo loop. Lower band: the console desk, the VDR junction unit or the conning position. No vessel name or IMO number legible on any screen.

What that covers
  • VDR and S-VDR — annual performance test, data download and playback verification
  • ECDIS — performance test, ENC and software currency, sensor input and alarm checks
  • Radar and ARPA — performance testing, magnetron and transceiver service, alignment
  • Magnetic compass adjustment and deviation card by a qualified compass adjuster
  • Gyro, autopilot, speed log, echo sounder, AIS and BNWAS

Radio & GMDSS

Annual GMDSS radio survey, VHF/MF-HF/DSC, Inmarsat and Iridium, NAVTEX, battery capacity and antenna surveys.

Quote this service

PORTRAIT 2:3. A mast head against overcast sky, VHF and MF/HF antennas stacked up the frame — the sky IS the quiet top band here, so let it run. Antennas and their mounts through the middle. Lower band: the mast structure and rigging. Alternative if the mast is not available: a GMDSS console with the DSC controller centred and the EPIRB in its float-free bracket below it.

What that covers
  • Annual radio survey supporting the Cargo Ship Safety Radio Certificate
  • VHF, MF/HF and DSC installations — testing, service and repair
  • Inmarsat and Iridium terminals; NAVTEX receivers and EGC
  • Reserve-source battery capacity testing, antenna, feeder and earthing surveys
  • GMDSS console fault-finding and equipment replacement
Governing instruments
  • SOLAS I & IV
  • ITU Radio Regulations

Instrument Calibration

Pressure, temperature, gas detection, tank gauging, loading computers, oil content meters, torque equipment.

Quote this service

PORTRAIT 2:3. A calibration bench shot from slightly above. Quiet wall or bench back across the top. Middle band: a multi-gas detector being calibrated, with the reference gas cylinder and regulator standing directly behind it and a technician's hands on the instrument. Lower band: the bench, the tubing, the case. The reference standard's certificate may be present but must be out of focus and unreadable, and no accreditation logos in frame.

What that covers
  • Pressure, vacuum and temperature instruments against traceable reference standards
  • Oxygen analysers, multi-gas detectors and explosimeters — the enclosed-space entry chain
  • Tank gauging systems, UTI tapes and portable level instruments
  • Loading computers verified against the approved test conditions
  • Oil content meters — 15 ppm bilge alarms and ODME systems
Governing instruments
  • Traceable standards

Electrical & Electronic

Thermographic surveys, insulation resistance, switchboard and generator service, breaker and relay testing, UPS and battery capacity.

Quote this service

PORTRAIT 2:3. An open main switchboard, busbars running vertically through the whole frame. Quiet panel or deckhead above. Middle band: a technician framing a termination through a thermal-imaging camera, the thermogram visible on the camera screen — camera and screen both in the middle band. Two things worth checking before you send a scope

Is your port in the index?

The port index is published in full, with the base each port is attended from. If a port is not listed, ask anyway — the list is what we publish, not the limit of where we mobilise.

Open the port index

What to send

Vessel name and IMO number, port, ETA and ETD, and the scope you need. That is enough to price the work and plan an attendance on the first reply, rather than after three emails.
