Parts & Consumables Supply

Parts and consumables required during a service can be supplied on the same attendance, where the scope sheet identifies them before it is planned. That covers extinguisher charges, foam concentrate, liferaft equipment packs, hydrostatic release units, pyrotechnics and replacement units across all eight disciplines. One scope sheet, one quotation, one invoice. Which marine equipment conformity regime applies is set by the vessel's flag rather than by us — Directive 2014/90/EU and the wheel mark for a ship flying the flag of an EU Member State, the corresponding United Kingdom regime for a UK flag, and the flag State's own equipment rule for any other. The instrument that governs your supply is named on the quotation; the declaration of conformity and the notified body number travel with the goods rather than following afterwards, and a wheelmarked item is checkable on the EU's own public register of approved marine equipment, independently of us.

  • Conformity documentation supplied with any item subject to marine equipment conformity
  • Expired pyrotechnics and condemned pressure vessels landed against a receipted record — item, type, quantity and expiry — never left on board, by the disposal route the quotation names for that port and under the licence held by the party that receives them

Regulatory basis

The instruments that govern this work, cited as a superintendent would write them. What each one requires of the shipowner — not what we sell.

MED 2014/90/EUDirective 2014/90/EU on marine equipment (the wheelmark)

Marine equipment placed on board a ship flying the flag of an EU Member State must be conformity-assessed by a notified body, carry the wheel mark, and be accompanied by a declaration of conformity.

SOLAS Ch. II-2 Reg. 10.3.3International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1974, as amended — Fire fighting

Spare charges for 100% of the first ten portable extinguishers and 50% of the remainder capable of recharge on board, up to sixty; extinguishers that cannot be recharged on board are duplicated instead.

SOLAS Ch. III Reg. 20SOLAS Chapter III — Operational readiness, maintenance and inspections

Inflatable liferafts, inflatable lifejackets and marine evacuation systems serviced at intervals not exceeding twelve months at an approved servicing station, extendable to seventeen months by the Administration where servicing at twelve months is impracticable; launching falls inspected periodically, with special regard to areas passing through sheaves, and renewed on deterioration or at not more than five years, whichever is the earlier.

MSC.1/Circ.1432 as amended by MSC.1/Circ.1516Revised guidelines for the maintenance and inspection of fire protection systems and appliances

The maintenance, testing and inspection regime that SOLAS II-2 Reg. 14.2.2 requires to be carried out based on guidelines developed by the Organization: annual pressure testing of a sample of fire hoses at maximum fire main pressure, sized so that every hose is tested within five years; ten-yearly hydrostatic test and internal examination of 10% of fixed gas system agent and pilot cylinders; and annual sampling of foam concentrates for the periodical control tests. The Guidelines expressly do not cover portable fire extinguishers or fixed carbon dioxide systems — those sit with IMO Res. A.951(23) and MSC.1/Circ.1318/Rev.1 respectively.

Each survival craft carries the equipment inventory specified for its type, and lifebuoy lights, self-activating smoke signals, distress signals and lifejacket lights meet the Code's performance standards. A replacement item must meet the same standard.

SOLAS Reg. II-1/3-13SOLAS Chapter II-1 — Lifting appliances and anchor handling winches

In force 1 January 2026 for lifting appliances and anchor handling winches installed on or after that date; those installed earlier must comply not later than the first Safety Construction Certificate renewal survey on or after 1 January 2026. Cargo, engine-room, stores and hose-handling cranes must be designed, installed, tested and maintained to the Administration's requirements, with the register, certificates and manuals kept on board, and periodic surveys, thorough examinations and functional tests carried out by authorised parties.

What you receive

  • Delivery note quoting the vessel name, IMO number and your purchase order, listing every item by make, type, part number and quantity
  • EU declaration of conformity, wheel mark and notified body number recorded against every item subject to MED 2014/90/EU
  • Hydrostatic or pressure test certificate for every refillable cylinder supplied — extinguisher body, CO₂ and SCBA — as issued by the testing body, with the test date matching the cylinder stamp; non-refillable calibration gas cylinders carry the maker's fill and expiry data instead
  • Manufacturer's test certificate for wire rope, chain, hooks, shackles and loose gear, in the form required for entry in the Register of Lifting Appliances and Cargo Handling Gear
  • Safety data sheet for every chemical supplied — foam concentrate, dry powder, calibration gas and battery electrolyte — for the ship's chemical inventory
  • Manufacturer's certificate or test report where the maker issues one, with batch, serial and expiry dates recorded for the certificate calendar
  • Service report naming the item removed and the item fitted in its place, with the disposal record for expired pyrotechnics and condemned pressure vessels
  • Updated LSA and fire-appliance inventory lines for the plans on board

Are you approved for my flag?

We do not name an approval as held, here or anywhere on this site. Tell us the flag, port and scope: any documentation that applies to that job — the granting entity, the scope and the reference — is supplied in writing with the quotation, and whatever is granted is then checkable by you, independently, on that authority's own public register. The approvals page sets out the instruments that gate this work, who grants each one, and the register each is verified on. It names none as held.

Can you get the part on board inside an 18-hour port stay?

Six service bases cover the ports in the index — Istanbul, Izmir, Iskenderun, Varna, Constanta and London — and the answer differs by item and by base. This page publishes no lead time. Send the IMO number, port, berth, ETA and ETD with the scope sheet; the quotation then states item by item what can be on board for that attendance and what cannot, and the customs route each item takes. A complete scope sheet is quoted within one working day. Where the vessel is alongside now, or arriving inside 48 hours, telephone the operations desk on +90 532 657 48 78 and it is worked on the shift it reaches us rather than in the next quotation cycle. Where a line has to be priced by the maker or by a partner in that port, the quotation says so and gives the date that price is due, rather than holding the whole scope back for one item.

Who clears the parts through customs, and who pays the duty?

Goods delivered to a vessel move as ship's stores or under a transit procedure, and Türkiye, Bulgaria, Romania and the UK are four regimes, not one — so the route is decided per item and per port rather than by a rule printed here: the quotation names which party is importer of record, whether clearance sits inside the line, and whether duty or VAT falls to the vessel. The commercial default behind that does not move. Unless your order states another term, delivery is DAP at the place named on the order under Incoterms 2020 — the vessel, the terminal gate, the agent's premises or the forwarder's warehouse — so import clearance and any duty or import VAT sit with the buyer unless the quotation states otherwise, prices are quoted exclusive of taxes and duties, and title in a part passes on payment in full. The delivery note carries the vessel name, IMO number and your purchase order, so the customs entry ties to the hull and not to a name that may change. Declarations state the true description, value and origin of the goods; nothing is under-declared or redescribed to reduce duty or to release a consignment faster.

We already hold the part from the maker. Will your technician fit it?

Yes. The attendance is quoted as labour against your scope sheet, and the service report names the item you supplied as fitted, with its conformity or test certificate recorded as you provide it. Nothing is replaced without your approval. Where the item you hold is the wrong type for that installation, it is recorded as found, with the nameplate data behind it, and quoted before anything else is fitted.

Will class or PSC accept a certificate that references a part you supplied?

The evidence a surveyor asks for is the item's own. Where equipment falls under MED 2014/90/EU it carries the wheel mark, the notified body number and a declaration of conformity, and that travels with the part. Acceptance is still the attending surveyor's decision, and nothing here can promise it. Which authorisation gates the servicing work itself is a separate question. The approvals page sets out each instrument that applies, who grants it, and the public register a buyer checks it on; it names none as held, and any documentation that applies to your job is supplied in writing with the quotation.

Do you hold stock, and can you supply any make and type?

We do not ask you to rely on a stock position, and none is claimed. We claim no manufacturer authorisation, for any make or type. Items are sourced against the vessel's make, type and nameplate data once the scope sheet is in, and known renewals are planned into the attendance rather than found on the day. The quotation states how each item is sourced and what documentation comes with it.
